home again.
hello everyone!
I am home again.. I came home but that was violently cut short by vomiting and nausea.
I went back to the hospital and hung out in the emergency room for the total of 37 hours I was there. The wonderful nurse, David went and got me a bed from the floor and life was much better.
They released me late yesterday afternoon.
My question for you all is:
1. how did you sleep? I am struggling to find comfort in bed.
2. when was your bout of "passing gas". I have been burping but nothing out the other end. I have never wanted to fart so much in my life!!!!

Welcome home again!!
37 hours in the ER that is just insane! Thank goodness for good nurses!
Now, while our surgeries are different I can answer the questions according to what I did....
1) I am not a back sleeper, so I put a pillow under my belly and laid on my side. (Like I did when I was pregnant.) It helped until the soreness went away.
2) My gas didn't work itself out until I was able to do some serious walking. The little rounds up and down the hall just didn't seem to help much, it wasn't until about three days later, the rain stopped, and I went for a walk outside. Then I started to feel much better, and started tooting like a choochoo train.....
Take care!
Hugs
Amy

Glad your home Missy! You gave us a nice little scare. WOW, 37 hours in the ER, I know Kenny was worried about you. I don't think he was to happy with your treatment either.
As for your questions. I slept in a recliner, it was a lot easier than getting in and out of the bed! As far as the other, it'll happen soon enough. Like Amy said, as soon as you are up and moving about, you will be a tooting up a storm!
Hang in there and BREATHE!!!!! If you need anything, give us a shout!

Well sweetie, Let me first say, Welcome home hon, I guess you loose all , there is " in the lady like theory" LOL when you have gastic. At least that is what I've found. When push comes that's it, no matter what, find you a common ground and let if fly!!! If you hold it in you will regret it. Believe me. When you went into the er alway let them know that you are a WLS patient. and Dr. whoever is your doctor!! Ususally that speeds up your process. You went to Vandy right???? That is strange, always tell that to them the first thing, and let them know that you are hav'n problems, throwing up violently. etc.... Anytime you go into the ER at Vandy let them know this!!!! This is a serious thing!!!! Hope this helps in the future.

Glad your home and doing better. As far as gas the burping usually means your pouch is full then fallowed up with hiccups if you continue to eat. The other gas can be eased by eating yogurt and taking chewable Acidophilus sense taking these I've had no problem. The Greek Yogurt (plain) I add Cinnamon and equal is a better source of protein then regular yogurt. Good luck. C'ya Bob
Hey Mr. Bob, hope your day has been an enjoyable one. I was on the sweet acidophilus milk. Jaimie, also had told me it would be a good thing for me to use in my protien drinks if I was to use any milk products, for instances. 2oz. of milk with 6 oz. of water. then protein, Devinci surup. of course any kind. I need to get it, you can get it in the organic section of refrigerator store dept. I may even try your cinnamon, Of course before the surgery, during the dreded 2 week liquid diet, I used the acidophilus milk in the carnation instant breakfast. And then of course started to stray out, making up different things for a change of pace. LOL. You do alot when you are desperate!!! I thank they still call that creat-avtivity!!! Barb Tell Deb Hello for me !!
lol. yeah, when I had to have Kenny help me wipe myself, all "lady-like" just went right out the door!
I (well, Kenny) paged Dr. Brandon at 5:30am and he actually called us about 15 mins later. he said go in. He was awesome!! I don't know if they just didn't have beds on the other floor or not, but they kept me down there instead of moving me. after they got me the big girl bed, it wasn't too bad. the only sucky thing is that some of the nurses weren't as familar with my needs so we had to kinda let 'em know. One tried to give me sprite. cute as a button, really, but still.
As you can imagine, Kenny was very vocal.. and yeah, annoyed. I had to go make him sit in the corner once. lol.
Dr. Brandon was there to see me by about 7:30am. He was just wonderful. I can't say enough about him.

Wow, I'm so sorry you've had such a hard time of it and SO LONG in the ED! I'm glad they got you a bed. Those gurneys are not comfortable for even a few minutes!
I had a sleeve gastrectomy, so it wasn't nearly as much surgery. I enjoyed sleeping in a nice, comfy chair and ottoman, or with a fortress of pillows to keep myself in a fairly upright position when I was in my own bed. I hope you find a very comfy position and get a lot of rest.
When you're not sleeping, of course, walk and sip, walk and sip.
